Spring into action (make significant changes to improve Troy) The goal of Horizons is to create a Happy, thriving community where people work together to Organize and mobilize existing assets like individuals, groups, and services. These can then be combined with Resources and support from outside funders, in this case the University of Idaho Extension Office and the Northwest Area Foundation. The first step is to Initiate community conversations. This step has already been accomplished through Study Circles and an Action Forum. The next step is to Zealously build leadership through Leadership Plenty® trainings which increase our community’s leadership capacity. This step has also been completed. Together, all of this work allows the community of Troy to Own our own destiny -- or in essence reinvent the future of Troy. We will accomplish this by kNowing where we are going because we have created a unified vision of what Troy would ultimately like to be at our Visioning Rally. With this vision in place, we will be ready to Spring into action and do the actual work of transforming Troy into what we have envisioned.
| Troy’s Vision for the Future At the Troy Horizons visioning rally, which was held on September 18, 2007, residents of Troy were successful at creating a long term vision of what they would like Troy to be like in the future. More than 80 people showed up to participate in the event which was designed to help citizens create a vision statement for Troy’s future and identify action items that will allow residents to work together toward this vision. The resulting vision statement is available for viewing by clicking the link for Vision Statement above. 
Following the rally, interested citizens met again to form Action Teams which will work toward the action items that have been identified. You are invited to become involved by joining one of the Action Teams that has been created. The three Action Teams which were formed will work on developing: 1.) Community Connectedness, 2.) Entrepreneurship, and 3.) solutions for Troy's water shortage. Troy Horizons would like to involve as many community members as possible in this process. This is your opportunity to have a say about what you would like to see happen in your community. Your input and contributions are a valuable asset and are much needed. Special Announcement! If you missed the Troy Horizon’s Visioning Rally, you missed the wonderful pictures that Troy Elementary School students created for the “My Dreams and Wishes for Troy” Coloring Showcase. Luckily, you will still have the opportunity to view the many creative and inspiring ideas young people shared through their artwork. Pictures will go on display beginning October 1, 2007 at the Troy Library. Don’t miss this opportunity to get a glimpse at what some of our youngest citizens’ would like to see in Troy’s future.
